Guitars not Guns |
12:02:40 AM |

|
Saddened that his LA school district cut music from the schools in the 1980s
after his graduation, he decided that someone needed to step in and give
back. Now I am even more grateful that my daughter goes to a school with
such a great music program. Our schools here do well. Even my puny
little alma mada has a marching band of 12 kids. Music is important.
It is a proven fact that kids who take up music are better students. What
was this "Amendment 13" and why did this get taken from the kids in
LA?

What Happened to that 50/50 Guy? |
11:51:37 PM |
|
|
|
I had totally forgot about Adam Brodsky, who I met at the Pizza Shoppe a
while back attempting his 50 in Fifty tour where he would tour 50 states in 50
days doing a solo performance in each state. Did he make it? See for
yourself at http://www.fiftyinfifty.com/
He mad it, completing his 50th performance in his home state of Pennsylvania.
I meet colorful characters in my life. Adam is among them. He
probably does not remember "me from Adam", but some day I might just
take him up on his offer to come to PA and do a little concert. Nobody
would come, but the vacation would be nice!

Alone in a Room Full of People |
10:02:31 PM |
|
|
|
You ever been alone in a room full of people? It's just how I feel
sometimes. Sometimes I just lose all confidence on how to share my
thoughts and ideas and slip into solitude. Fear is what propels this
most. I have a tough day tomorrow. I need to attend a conference on knowledge
management. Yes, another room full of people. I need to attend my
sons parent teacher conference. I have not found the balance I need in my
relationship with him. He will not live life on my terms, or skims by at
the bare minimum.
I probably should lock myself in the basement the next few hours and strum a
guitar. I have been messing with my electric, but I also miss the grass
roots sound of my Martin. Sometimes I just feel the need to get
"earthy". I think that comes from working around technology all
day. Sorry if this post seems a little down. Sometimes you just need
to vent, even when there is nothing particularly wrong.

Horsing Around |
9:52:44 PM |
|
|
|
I can't think of much to write so I'm just sucking up to people who like
horses by putting a couple on my page.
Wild wild horses, couldn't drag me away.
Wild wild horses, we'll ride them some day.

Tales of my Penis |
9:42:30 PM |
|
|
|
It is a complete rumor that the National Park Service has "erected"
a statue in honor of my penis.
There is a perfectly good explanation as to how this rock formation was
created... and I am waiting to hear it.

Just Deserts |
11:33:46 PM |
|
|
|
In an earlier post, I complained about my inability to get my request
answered from a gentleman on Omaha Singles who will not respect my right to
privacy. Just a quick update here.
He never cooperated, but what he failed to realize is that even though he may
know the site coordinator, I know the owner. Brother always told me it's
"who you know". He was right. Who is crying now?
For clarification, this was not a problem with the site, Omaha Singles, but a
member of it. In the long haul, OS came through for me, yet it took persistence
I did not think was needed.

Mondays |
11:31:59 AM |

Mondays exist purely as payback for a good weekend.
Taking a quick break here to complain about lots of emails, meetings, and
just plain old Monday stuff.

Trick or Treat |
3:55:45 PM |
|
|
|
Yes, I know I look like Son of Sanguinary. It's not the look I was
going for, but I got a little carried away with the white make-up.
From the time I was 14 until 34 I refused to dress up for Halloween.
All that fun missed. It has only been hit and miss since then, but I have
caught a few of the ghoulish days along with some groundhog proms to make up the
difference.
Does growing up mean "learning to act like a kid".

Mountain Lion Eats Trick or Treaters |
11:19:17 PM |
|
|
|
I wrote about the cougars that have been both caught and spotted in
Omaha. The second one, real or imaginary is still at large, last time
sighted at 40th and Adams, quite a bit South of Memorial Park or Dundee where
the first sightings were.
I just got to thinking, that my title there would make an interesting
headline on Saturday morning. While most children are being briefed on how
to check their candy for razor blades and poison, kids in central Omaha are
getting a briefing on how to fight off a mountain lion.
I thought it would be really fun to put speakers out my window and play
wildcat sounds.

The Mit Must Die |
9:58:44 PM |
|
|
|
There are two things in life that scare me.
The MS Office Paper Clip guy, and the Arby's Oven Mit. I'm not sure
which one annoys me more. The sad thing is, I haven't stopped using Office
products, and I still eat at Arby's.
I can't put a finger on why I am troubled by these things. It must be
something Freudian. Or maybe the fact that they have grown to be 21rst
Century icons while Smoochie struggles with a cult following of some of Earths
finest minds.

Fall 2003 |
5:13:39 PM |
|
|
|
Just thought I'd snap a picture of my house on this fall afternoon.
It's kind of hard to tell with the sun just to the left like this, but the
colors in this neighborhood are quite something. My camera batteries are
dead, so maybe I will walk around and get more pictures later.
