I think I've been stood up by a man! I'm waiting for my friend Paulino
to get out of meeting so we can go to coffee, but its 9:30 PM and that means he
either went to the 8:30 or forgot.
Gives me a second to write my log for the day. Not much to tell, or not
much I will tell ya! I have a guy coming to my parking lot to put a new windshield
in my truck tomorrow. I would expect hail by Friday...

October Fest |
7:22:59 AM |
|
|
|
Hard to believe it's October already. Suddenly putting on shorts and
riding the bike at 8:00 PM isn't an option anymore!
The weather is beautiful still. The leaves are starting to
change. On a ride last night I saw a set of burning bushes that looked
like they were spray painted they were so red. I hope the one in my yard
does as well.
I had a nice evening and slept very well. Now it's time to start
another day!

Rodeo, Bands and Stuff |
10:15:48 PM |
|
|
|
What a lovely weekend! The weather was nice, I got to spend time with
my S.O. and attend the rodeo. I had not seen one in a very long time.
Saw a couple of bands, after which revived a craving I have had to
replace the guitar amp I sold on Ebay a couple years ago surfaced. Since
going acoustic, I have not had the need, but I miss doing electric lead
work. I am WAY out of practice. No 300 watt Marshall stacks this
time, just a user friendly Peavey Classic Chorus. Had a lot of fun with it
today. Down the road I would like to find a Gibson or Gretch to alternate
with my Fender guitar.

Driving home today, I saw a sign painted on the back of a tow truck, "We don't want an arm and a leg; just your tows!"

Bike Ride from Hell |
7:11:31 PM |
|
|
|
Had to scoot home early today because M.U.D. wanted to read the gas and water
meters. I thought my son would be here but apparently had things to do at
school. This being a good thing. The meter man got here almost as
fast as I did, so that gave a choice. Nap or bike ride?
I had not ridden much lately. It is a pretty fall on the way. I
still had the bike in the truck from a short ride on Sunday. I
prepared. I layered my shirts in case I got to hot or cold, took plenty of
water. If you have asthma you want to be hydrated when you ride. At
five miles I was feeling pretty good, so I decided to ride the extra mile to
Aksarben. When I turned the corner there, a gust of wind nearly knocked me
off my bike. I knew then, it was going to be a long ride back. Hills
are better than wind.

Music Friends |
11:06:55 PM |
|
|
|
Seems to be a fair amount going on with my music
friends. My friend Kyle has several gigs this next week, as does
Richard. I'm glad to see that I am not the only one who emails everyone
the wrong date, then has to come back and email a correction. Typos got
them both this week. You can see Kyle Knapp's website at: http://www.kyleknapp.com
He will be playing MoJo Coffee and 13th Street this weekend. Richard's
band at http://www.spcband.com will
be playing the Dundee Days Festival on Saturday.

Writer's Cramp |

It has been a few days since I have written in my log. I sat down a
couple of times to do so, but came up with little. I have been a very busy
boy. I have had to work until 6ish the last two nights, and had some yard
work I wanted to get cleaned up before Wednesday, when the trash is picked
up.
I'm working on a new relationship. It's with someone I have seen
before, but it seems new. There are many new and exciting aspects this
time. It will take work, but we have both learned to communicate what work
needs to be done. We have both vowed not to give up easy when the other
one seems to be backing away. We don't do well when we are apart.
For both of us, that feeling is all too familiar. One day at a time!

The Perfectionist in Us All |
10:51:56 AM |
|
|
|
I sat down to write my log this AM, and found myself tweaking logic in the
program that I use to generate it. I was unhappy with a color here, or
some text formatting there. This is all well and good, except it has
derailed me from writing a simple paragraph and getting on with my day!
If my perfectionism would only lend itself to doing some needed things around
the house! I had intended on getting up this AM and trim up a few bushes,
but God derailed that plan by giving us a nice and much needed rain.

50 in 50 |

I'm looking over the photos and diary of Adam Brodsky, who played at the Pizza Shoppe with me on the 29th. It is located at: http://www.fiftyinfifty.com/pics.html It looks like he has now done 34 states or more. Entry number 27 describes his night in Omaha. Of course, there is no mention of me, and you know it's all about me! He does talk about Amy and Aaron, though he can only remember Aaron's name. He does remember Amy is cute, treated him well and showed him proof that the Pizza Shoppe is haunted. That is news to me! I will have to ask them about that some time.

Apple a Day |
10:17:39 PM |
|
|
|
A very pleasant day in Nebraska City. I picked up a lady friend, then my daughter and drove to Nebraska City for the AppleJack Festival. You've never seen so many people go crazy over apples! You can read more about it at: http://www.nebraskacity.com/ajschedule.html We got to see crafts, buy apples and honey, and on top of all that the weather and company was perfect.
Don't let people tell you there is nothing to do in the state of Nebraska, or that the scenery is boring. They just are not looking in the right place. You must get off of I-80 and go explore.

The Silver Hawks Marching Band |
1:02:39 PM |
|
|
|
When your kids become teens, you kind of get to see them in
glimpses. The last two times I have seen my daughter she was
running around with her new school friends; the Lincoln Southwest
Silver Hawks. I dusted off the camera and the pictures are at
http://members.cox.net/studebkr1/lsw/index.html
It is very impressive that a school that is only two years old
could put together a band of this size and quality. Hope you
enjoy the pictures!

What's For Lunch? |
11:06:50 AM |
|
|
|
Network is still down. This gives me a chance to call my son's high school and talk to some teachers. A co-worker and I are talking about going up to the Pizza Shoppe. We try to do that about once a week or so. It's a neat old building in Benson with a wonderful wait staff, and where I play guitar on occasions.
